December is the month made for hot chocolates, crackling fires, & watching the Christmas lights twinkle. A warm sweater and some fuzzy socks can make anyone feel cozy this time of year & this book is a great one to curl up with. It’s a quick little read that will leave you with a brighter Christmas spirit & a less heavy heart.
It’s Christmas Eve at JFK in New York City.
Charlotte is a British student, waiting for a flight home after the worst semester of her life. Anthony is a native New Yorker, surprising his girlfriend at the airport after three months apart. Charlotte has just been dumped, and Anthony is about to be dumped, right in the middle of the holiday crowd.
Charlotte’s flight is canceled when a blizzard blows in, and Anthony can’t bear to go home. So, they set out into the city together, clutching a book Charlotte picks up in the airport gift shop: Ten Easy Steps for Getting Over Your Ex. For this one night, they’ll focus on healing their broken hearts … together. (Summary taken directly from the book)
Kiss Me in New York gets a very adorable 6/10 puppy kisses. This book is a perfect read for anyone who’s celebrating Christmas & wants something light. In less than 200 pages Catherine Rider makes Charlotte & Anthony’s quest to get over their exes a riveting story to follow along with. As they travel to some of New York’s greatest destinations they really share a bond with each other & it’s all very cute. The little book guides them through a very healthy way to get over someone & they do so in style.
My only complaint is that this book felt a little cliché. I know, what else should I expect from a Christmas love story? But in some sections the book just felt too predictable and it went a little overboard trying to sell the story. I could see the next line coming, I knew where the book was headed & it did get a little monotonous after a minute or two.
But that being said, it’s still a great read. It’s perfect for this time of year when the Christmas lights are out & you need to escape your family for a few hours. I’d say grab this book, a cup of hot tea & a blanket or two , & curl up to read this to get in the holiday mood.
Hope you all are having a happy whatever you celebrate & here’s to another book-filled year!
